Working with Diagnostic Providers: Account Setup

SigmaMD allows the flexibility to work with various lab and imaging diagnostic providers for bi-directional electronic ordering and results. This article explains how to work with the diagnostic provider to set up your account, request direct care cash pricing, and ensure results can be delivered electronically into SigmaMD. These steps are handled directly with the diagnostic provider and are required before SigmaMD can configure your practice’s integration.

Labcorp via Healthcare Procurement Solutions

  • Go to Healthcare Procurement Solutions (HPS), a no-cost group purchasing organization (GPO).
  • Complete the form to sign up for a free membership.
  • HPS will assist with getting a new Labcorp account number with pre-negotiated cash pay rates (client bill). If you have an existing Labcorp account, HPS will add these cash rates to your account.

Quest Diagnostics

  • SigmaMD can help you obtain a Quest account number. Please notify your customer success representative at SigmaMD if you need an account with Quest.

Other Diagnostic Providers

  • Reach out to the diagnostic provider's sales team.
  • Request special cash pricing offered to direct care practices.

Choosing Results Delivery Method

When setting up an account with a diagnostic provider (such as a lab or imaging center), you’ll often be asked: “Would you like to receive results via fax or through our online portal?”

Recommended Option: Online Portal

We recommend selecting the provider’s online portal whenever available.

Why Choose the Portal?

  • Most diagnostic portals are free, secure, and web-based.
  • Portal access is typically required to enable electronic integration with SigmaMD prior to go-live.
  • Structured, digital results are easier to manage and integrate into the patient’s chart.

What to Tell the Diagnostic Provider

You can respond with:

“We’d like to use your online portal for results delivery. We will be working with SigmaMD to enable bi-directional electronic orders and results via Change Healthcare.”

What to Enter for SigmaMD's Vendor Number

Some diagnostic providers may request SigmaMD’s vendor number to establish the integration.

You can leave this field blank. When your diagnostic provider account is approved, SigmaMD will initiate the interface request using your clinic’s diagnostic provider account number via Change Healthcare.
