Troubleshooting Notification Delivery on Mobile

At SigmaMD, one of the most important alerts that both patients and clinicians receive is the Push Notification. These notifications are alerts delivered directly to the user's smartphone, informing them of various events in their SigmaMD accounts.

The first requirement for delivering Push Notifications is that the user must be logged in to their account.

From time to time, for safety reasons, your SigmaMD account might be automatically logged out. So, a new login is important to keep the push notifications reaching you.

Notification permission

Another key necessity for the push notifications to arrive on your smartphone is to give the SigmaMD app permission for notifications in your smartphone.

The steps to do this vary in between Android and iOS, so below is a breakdown of each.

Android

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select the Apps option.
  3. Find the SigmaMD app.
  4. In the privacy section, find Notifications.
  5. Toggle on the option to allow notifications.

iOS

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select the Apps option.
  3. Find the SigmaMD app.
  4. Select Notifications.
  5. Toggle on Allow Notifications.
  6. Customize the notification options you desire. We recommend enabling all options for optimal alerts.

Do not disturb mode

All smartphones have a do not disturb mode. While this doesn't prevent the arrival of push notifications, it might prevent the user from noticing a push notification has arrived.

To make sure the push notifications arrive and alert you, please turn off this function.

Android

  1. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel.
  2. Then tap the Do Not Disturb (or "Do Not Disturb" moon) icon to toggle it off.

iOS

  1. Swipe down from the top right of your screen to open the Control Center.
  2. Tap the Focus button (which shows a moon icon).
  3. Tap Do Not Disturb to disable it.

Internet Connection

Ensure your smartphone has a stable internet connection so that the push notifications arrive correctly and in a timely manner.

Reinstall the SigmaMD App

As a final measure, reinstalling the SigmaMD app may help to prevent errors from occurring and interfering with the push notification delivery to your smartphone

Android

Before deleting the app, we recommend you to clear all the data from the app first. To do this do the following:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select the Apps option.
  3. Find the SigmaMD app.
  4. Go to Storage & Cache.
  5. Choose Clear Data or Clear Storage.

Once this is done, please delete the app and reinstall it from the Play Store.

iOS

Just delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store.

Extra Steps

Notification Summary (iOS)

Notification summary may delay the arrival of SigmaMD's push notifications by grouping them with all the other non-time-sensitive notifications on your app to deliver them only at a specific time.

This option can be found in Settings > Notifications.

Low Power Mode (iOS) or Battery Optimizer (Android)

Power-saving modes may delay the arrival of notifications. Please ensure that your phone either has the power-saving option disabled to guarantee that all push notifications arrive on time.

These options are usually found in Configurations > Battery.

Android Specific Configurations

Android phones have a variety of settings that vary from each manufacturer and may interfere with notification delivery to the user.

We recommend that you consult this external article to see if your phone has any of the possible options affecting it.
