How Autopay Works
When enrolling a patient in a membership plan, SigmaMD gives you the option to enable Autopay—a feature that lets your practice automatically charge the patient’s card on file for recurring payments.
Where to find it
Autopay is available as a toggle during patient manual enrollment, in the Billing Settings section of the membership setup screen.
How it works
- When ON (default): SigmaMD will automatically charge the patient’s saved card or account on each billing cycle.
When OFF: Autopay is disabled. The practice must manually collect payments from the patient.
How to Change Autopay Settings in a Membership
If you need to update whether a patient is automatically charged each cycle, you can change the autopay setting directly from their active membership.
To update the setting:
Go to the patient’s Memberships section, click the ••• button on the membership card and select View details.
- Under Billing Settings, click the pencil icon to edit.
Use the Autopay toggle to turn it on or off:
- Click Save to apply the change.
Good to know
- Autopay only works if the patient has a valid payment method on file.
- You can always update billing settings later if needed.
- Turning off Autopay does not cancel the membership—it only changes how payments are collected.
Autopay helps automate your revenue cycle and ensures patients stay current on their memberships without extra steps.
