How to Block Days and Hours on a Calendar

In SigmaMD, you can add blockers to your calendar to prevent appointments from being scheduled during specific times. When the correct option is enabled, these blockers also apply to patient self-scheduling, making those time slots unavailable to patients.

Blocking a specific hour

Start by opening the Calendar. In the top-right corner of the screen, click + New.

Select Block, then make sure the Block Calendar toggle is on. This step is required to prevent patients from self-scheduling during this time.

Fill in the Title and confirm the date and time. Once all required fields are completed, the Create button will become active. Click it to finalize the block.

If you want this block to apply to other team members, select them in the Practice Participants field.

After saving, you’ll see the blocker displayed directly on your calendar.

Blocking a whole day

To block an entire day, follow the same steps used for blocking a specific hour. Set the start and end times to cover the full working day (or longer, if needed). This will prevent appointments from being scheduled for that entire date.

External Calendars

SigmaMD supports connections with Google Calendar and Microsoft Calendar.

If your account is connected to one or both, events created in those external calendars can also block your SigmaMD calendar as long as they are marked as Busy.

To block an entire day in an external calendar, simply enable the All day option when creating the event.
