How to Register a Pediatric Patient to Membership
In SigmaMD, patients under 16 must be linked to a caregiver when their profile is created.
To enroll them in a membership, the selected plan must also include a seat that covers their age. Once both conditions are met, you can complete the enrollment from the patient's payments menu.
Here is the step-by-step:
1. Add the pediatric patient (with caregiver)
- Go to the patient's page and click to add a patient.
- Enter the patient’s information, including date of birth. Since the patient is under 16, a caregiver is required before saving.
- Set the option "This patient has a caregiver" to On and select an existing patient as the caregiver, then click Save.
Please remind pediatric patients cannot be created without a caregiver.
2. Ensure the membership plan includes a seat for the patient's age
- Go to Billing > Memberships.
- Create a new membership or edit an existing one.
- In the “Plan seats” section, confirm there’s a seat that includes the patient’s age (e.g., "0 → 16").
- Ensure "Charging Cycles" and "Required Seats Rules" are also properly filled in as they are required fields.
- Save the plan. If the patient's age isn’t covered by the plan, it won’t be available for selection during enrollment.
3. Assign the membership to the pediatric patient
- From the patient's list, select the pediatric patient.
- Go to the Payments.
- Click on "Add membership plan."
- Select the appropriate membership plan, and if needed, change the payer field to reflect the caregiver or responsible payer.
- Review the details and confirm.
Once saved, the pediatric patient will be enrolled in the selected membership.
If you are enrolling the pediatric patient in an existing membership, for instance, parents are already enrolled, and a kid needs to be added to their membership, open one of the already enrolled patient's charts (parent), and instead of creating a new membership, open the details of the desired membership plan to add the pediatric patient to a plan seat.
