How to Mark a Faxed Lab or Imaging Result as Reviewed

To mark a faxed lab or imaging result as reviewed in SigmaMD, follow the steps below.

You can access the result either through the home screen, the patient's chart, or directly from the fax inbox. We'll show you how to do it on all three.

From your Home screen

Step 1: Click on "Review" inside the "Lab/Imaging results to review" cards.

On the list that shows up, locate the result and click on "View Result" to open it.

Step 2: Add Tests and Fill In Names and Results

Click "Add test" and complete the required fields using the information from the faxed PDF. You must fill in all fields that are not labeled as “Optional”, including:

  • Test name
  • Status
  • Collected on (date and time)
  • Under Component:
    • Result name
    • Value
    • Unit
    • Status

Optional fields (like Reference range and Flag) can be added if the information is available on the result.

Step 3: Save and Add Additional Tests if Needed

After filling in all required information, click "Save" to confirm the entry.

If the result includes more than one test, repeat the process by clicking "Add test" again and entering the details for each additional test.

Step 4: Mark as Reviewed

Once all tests have been added and saved, the “Mark as Reviewed” button will become available.

Click this button to complete the review process and finalize the documentation of the result.

From the Patient’s Chart

Clinicians can review test results directly from the patient’s chart. Within the Labs/Imaging tabs, any results pending review will be listed.

To review a result, click to open it, then follow the same steps described above to enter the result details and mark it as reviewed.

From the Fax Inbox

Find and open the fax message, then click to open the file preview.

Select the option to set or enter the diagnostic result.

Complete all required information in the form, then save your entries.

Once saved, you can continue entering the remaining test details following the same steps outlined earlier. After filling in all required information, click "Save" to confirm the entry.

Once all tests have been added and saved, the “Mark as Reviewed” button will become available. Click this button to complete the review process and finalize the documentation of the result.
