Printer Settings to Print Labels

SigmaMD offers different labels for daily operations, including bottle, shipping, and lab labels. To ensure accuracy and readability, follow the standard printer settings below on your operating system when printing labels.

Label Types

  • Bottle Labels: Used for medications and dispensed items.
  • Shipping Labels: Used for mailing prescriptions or other materials.
  • Lab Labels: Used for in-office draws and lab orders.

Standard Printer Settings

  • Paper size: 2x1 in (for small labels)
  • Scale: Custom 100
  • Shipping labels: 4x6 in
  • Bottle labels: 4x2.4 in

These settings provide consistent results across supported printers and label types.

Recommended Printers

Bottle and Shipping Labels

We recommend the Brother QL-1110NWBC printer.

  • This printer supports both 4x6-inch shipping labels and 4x2.4-inch bottle labels.
  • Please confirm that your office setup allows printing these two sizes.

Lab and Medication Labels

For in-office draws and eRx dispensing, you could also use a DYMO Label Printer, which is compatible with the smaller 2x1 in label format.

Mailing Labels

For mailing purposes, we recommend the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL Shipping Label Printer, which is optimized for 4x6 in shipping labels.

General Recommendation

When choosing a label printer, look for models that can print labels up to 4 inches wide. This flexibility ensures you can print smaller labels (e.g., 2x1 in) and larger ones (e.g., 4x6 in) on the same device, covering all use cases from bottle dispensing to shipping.
