Restriction on prescribing controlled substances
Federal guidelines do not allow a single prescription for schedule two or more controlled substances to be written for more than a 30-day supply, so you might experience restrictions on longer stimulant prescriptions,
That said, providers can issue three separate 30-day prescriptions at the same time, with them written with future “earliest fill” dates. This allows you to cover longer periods while staying compliant with regulations.

Error: “EPCS TX OPTION NOT CONFIGURED FOR PRESCRIBER”
This error usually occurs shortly after EPCS permissions are newly added or updated for a prescriber.
According to Surescripts, it can take 24–48 hours for pharmacies to recognize updated EPCS permissions. If a controlled substance prescription is sent before this update has fully propagated, the pharmacy may reject it with this error.
What to Do
- Wait 24–48 hours after EPCS permissions are updated before sending controlled substance prescriptions.
- If the error continues after 72 hours, contact our support team for assistance.
