How Manage Diagnoses on Appointments
You can add diagnoses directly to appointments, bringing clinical context into scheduling and keeping patient records aligned across visits.
Add a diagnosis to an appointment
- Go to the Calendar and click “+ New”.
- Select a patient and fill in the appointment as usual, including the appointment type, visit type, clinician, date, and time.
- In the Diagnosis field, search and select one or more codes. Optionally, enable Patient diagnosis only to filter diagnoses from the patient chart, or leave it disabled to search all ICD-10 codes.
- Click Create to save the appointment.

You can also update current or past appointments and add diagnoses by clicking “Edit event”.
Add multiple diagnoses
- You can add more than one diagnosis per appointment.
- Diagnoses will appear as labels within the appointment.

Set default diagnoses for appointment types
You can configure appointment types with predefined diagnoses. These will automatically populate when the appointment type is selected.
- Go to Practice Settings → Appointment Types.
- Select an appointment type to edit or create a new one.

3. At Diagnosis Codes, add the default diagnoses related to the appointment and click Save.

Require a diagnosis to mark appointments as attended
If your practice requires a diagnosis before marking visits as attended, you can enable “Diagnosis required for attended appointments” in the appointment type settings.
Keep in mind:
- You can create an appointment without selecting a diagnosis, even with this option enabled.
- A default diagnosis is not required to enable this setting
- A diagnosis is only required before marking the appointment as completed

How to link diagnoses to patient problems
You can connect diagnoses with patient problems:
- When adding or managing a problem, go to Associated Appointments on the left side
- Select the appointment you want to link and click Add
Note: The list includes the patient’s next two scheduled appointments and all past appointments

3. The selected appointment will appear below the field

4. Saving the problem will automatically update the appointment diagnosis

How to remove diagnoses from a patient's problems
- In Problems, select the problem you want to update
- Hover over the linked appointment and click “Remove appointment”

Important
Adding a diagnosis to an appointment does not create a new problem in the patient’s chart
