Canceling a Lab or Imaging Order
At this time, lab and imaging orders cannot be canceled directly within the platform.
What to do instead
If you need to cancel an order, the best next step is to contact the provider or facility where the order was placed. They can confirm whether the order can be canceled and guide you on any next steps.
This helps ensure the request is handled safely and avoids any unintended processing or billing.
Good to know
- Cancelation policies may vary depending on the lab or imaging center
- If the order has already been processed or scheduled, additional steps may be required
- Reaching out as soon as possible gives you the best chance to stop the order in time
If you’re unsure which provider to contact, check the order details in the patient’s chart for reference.
What to do in SigmaMD
After the order cancelation is confirmed:
- Go to the patient's chart and open the Labs tab
- Click on "View orders" and open the canceled order
- Then, you can archive this order
