Setting Your Own Vitals Thresholds
Vitals thresholds help you quickly spot when a patient’s measurements fall outside of expected ranges. The system highlights abnormal readings so you can focus on what needs attention.
This is especially useful when reviewing trends, managing chronic conditions, or triaging data.
What the feature does
When thresholds are configured:
- Each vital (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate, temperature) is evaluated against defined minimum and maximum values
- Readings outside the range are visually flagged
- You can identify outliers directly from the vitals view without opening each entry
- Thresholds can be adjusted to match your clinical preferences, based on age and sex at birth
How to use Vitals Thresholds
1. Open Practice Settings
- Go to the Vitals Threshold section
- Access the Threshold Settings from the top of the vitals view

- It is also easily accessible from a shortcut in the patient's chart Vitals section.

2. Set thresholds for each vital
- Click on "Add Threshold group"

- Add the demographic criterion
- Enter the minimum and maximum values for the applicable vitals
- Save your changes
You can repeat this for as many groups as you want to track.
Tip: Keep ranges clinically meaningful for your patient population. You can always adjust them later.
3. Review vitals with thresholds applied
Once thresholds are set:
- Go back to the patient’s vitals view
- Values outside the defined range will be highlighted
4. Update thresholds as needed
Clinical needs change, and so should your thresholds. Return to Threshold Settings at any time and adjust values based on the patient's condition or practice protocols.
