Setting Up Shipping in SigmaMD

Before you can ship anything from an invoice, your practice needs to connect the shipping integration and set a few shipping preferences. This article covers connecting the integration, saving package templates, and setting your default print format.

Connect the Shipping Integration

  1. From the main menu, go to Practice Settings and select the Integrations tab.
  2. In the Shipping section, click Connect.
  3. You'll be redirected to sign in to or create your shipping account. Complete that setup to activate shipping in SigmaMD.

Once you're connected, the section shows Account connected, and the shipping option becomes available on invoices. If the connection doesn't go through, you'll see Connection failed with an option to retry.

You can disconnect at any time from the same Integrations tab. Disconnecting turns off shipping, cancels the labels for any packages not yet shipped, and hides shipping from the invoice workflow until you reconnect.

Set Up Package Templates

Package templates save a box or mailer's dimensions so you don't have to re-enter them every time you create a shipment. Manage them under Practice Settings > Shipping, in the Package Templates section.

  1. Click Template to add one.
  2. Give it a name, and choose whether it's a Box or tube or a Poly mailer.
  3. Enter the length, width, and height (poly mailers don't need a height). Use Switch units to enter measurements in inches or centimeters.
  4. Click Save.

To edit or delete a template, hover over it in the list. Deleting a template doesn't affect shipments already built from it—it just won't be offered as an option going forward.

Set a Default Package Template

You can mark one package template as the default. When you add a shipment to an invoice, its box dimensions are pre-filled from the default template automatically, saving you a step. To set one, open the template (or create a new one) and turn on Set as default, then save. The template's name shows a Default badge in the list. Only one template can be the default at a time—marking a new one clears it from the previous template.

Set Your Default Print Format

Your default print format determines how labels print unless you choose a different format for a specific shipment. Under Practice Settings > Shipping, in the Print Preferences section, choose a Label format—your options include 4 x 6 PDF, 4 x 8 PDF, 2.3 x 7.5 PDF, 2.3 x 7.5 PNG, A4 PDF, and A6 PDF. Pick the size that matches your printer or label stock.
