How to Add Line Breaks in Chat Without Sending the Message

By default, pressing Return (Enter) in Chat will send your message — just like it does in platforms like Google Chat, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger.

If you want to add a line break to format your message professionally without sending it:

Use Shift + Return (or Shift + Enter)

• Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
• While holding Shift, press Return or Enter.
• This inserts a new line in your message without sending it.
