Renewal requests are messages that pharmacies send when requesting medication refills for patients. At the top of the SigmaMD home screen, you'll find counters for Prescription Events from Dr. First. The "Renewal Requests" counter specifically tracks these requests.
Accessing Renewal Requests
To begin, click the "Review" button corresponding to "Renewal Requests" on the SigmaMD home screen. This will redirect you to the Dr. First interface where these requests are managed.
Key Features on the Renewal Requests Page
The Renewal Requests page in Dr. First offers various functionalities:
- By Providers: Use the dropdown menu beside "View Messages For" to filter by specific providers.
- By Message Types: Choose the type of messages you want to see using the dropdown next to "Message Type".
Click on an individual request to view more details, including specifics about the medication requested.
You can add comments to each request for internal communication and clarity.
Actions and Responses
Choose an action from the dropdown menu to respond to a request:
- Forward: Delegate the request to another qualified clinician.
- Remove: Use only for duplicate, already-handled requests.
- Modify: Change prescription details, turning the request into a pending one.
- Choose a new drug: Prescribe a different medication.
- Deny: Deny the request and notify the pharmacy.
- Renew: Authorize additional medication refills.
Additional notes to the pharmacist can also be added in the "Response Notes To Pharmacist" field.
Sending Your Decisions
After selecting your desired action, enter your Signature password. Click Send to finalize your decision.
