Connecting your external calendar to SigmaMD can streamline your scheduling by syncing appointments and events across both platforms. However, there are instances where an external calendar connection may be disconnected automatically. Recognizing why this happens and knowing how to address it is crucial for maintaining a seamless workflow. Here are the common reasons for disconnection and steps to re-establish the connection.
Reasons for Automatic Disconnection
Password Change: If you’ve recently changed the password for your external calendar account, as a security measure, this necessitates a reconnection to SigmaMD with the new credentials.
Revoked Access: Should you or someone with access revoke SigmaMD's permissions from your external account's settings, SigmaMD will no longer be able to sync with your external calendar.
Refresh Token Limit Reached: As an example, Google imposes a limit on the number of active connections for an account. Older connections get invalidated if this threshold (approximately 50 tokens) is exceeded. This means that if you frequently connect new devices or services, you may unintentionally disconnect previous connections.
Consequences of Disconnection
Sync Interruption: While your external calendar is disconnected, new events will not be synchronized between SigmaMD and the external calendar.
Preservation of Existing Events: Any events that were already synced before the disconnection will remain unchanged in both calendars.
Re-establishing Connection
Begin by going to your Personal Settings within SigmaMD and look for the Calendar Integration option, which is where you manage your external calendar connections. Once in there, find the disconnected account and select the option to reconnect. You will be prompted to re-authenticate and grant SigmaMD access to your external calendar once again.
All future events and also the ones created during the disconnection time will now be correctly synced between your accounts.
Automatic disconnections from external calendars can disrupt your scheduling flow, but with a quick reconnection process, you can restore sync functionality and keep your calendars up to date. It's essential to regularly check your Calendar Integration settings in SigmaMD to ensure uninterrupted synchronization and manage your appointments effectively.
