An Unmatched Lab Result is a lab result received with a requisition number that does not match any existing lab order in SigmaMD. This means the system cannot automatically assign the result to a patient, requiring manual intervention by authorized personnel in the practice.
Why Do Unmatched Lab Results Occur?
Unmatched lab results typically occur when:
- A lab sends results with a requisition number that does not exist in SigmaMD.
- A mismatch occurs between the lab's requisition number and the system's records.
- The lab order was not created within SigmaMD, leading to an unrecognized requisition.
How to Find and Assign an Unmatched Lab Result
Step 1: Locate Unmatched Lab Results
- Navigate to the Home Screen in SigmaMD.
- Look for the 'Lab Results to Review' card.
- If unmatched lab results exist, the card will display a notification badge with the number of unassigned results.
- Click the card to expand and view pending lab results.
Step 2: Review Lab Results
- A side screen will open, displaying lab results requiring attention.
- Hover over a lab result—this will reveal a Review button.
- Click the Review button to open the result details.
Step 3: Assign the Lab Result to a Patient
- If the result is orphaned, it will be marked as 'Unknown Patient'.
- Review the Lab Result PDF to determine the correct patient.
- Use the Search Field to find the correct patient in the system.
- Once the correct patient is selected, the 'Mark as Reviewed' button will be enabled.
- Click 'Mark as Reviewed' to assign the result to the selected patient.
Step 4: Add a Note (Optional)
- Before clicking 'Mark as Reviewed', you may add a note to the patient.
- This note will be included with the lab result, providing additional context.
