Adding a Category Markup and Tax for the Diagnostic Provider

SigmaMD allows you to set markup and tax values for the diagnostic provider, enabling efficient and consistent pricing for all tests associated with a specific provider. This is especially helpful when your clinic uses a standard markup and tax policy for all lab or imaging tests from a particular diagnostic partner.

Why Use Provider Markup?

Setting markup for the provider ensures:

• Easier maintenance: Updating one value adjusts the markup or tax for all applicable tests.
• Consistency: Pricing structure stays aligned across tests.
• Flexibility: You can still override the provider markup or tax for an individual test if needed.

How to Add or Edit the Provider Markup and Tax

• Navigate to Billing > Charge Items in your SigmaMD account.
• Use the filter options to select Diagnostic Lab or Diagnostic Imaging as the charge item type.

• Locate the diagnostic provider you wish to update.
• Click Edit Category.

• Set your desired markup as a percentage or a fixed amount.
• Select your desired tax profile.
• Click Save.

Inheritance and Overrides

• Tests under the provider will inherit this markup and tax by default.
• You can override the provider markup or tax on a per-test basis by editing the specific test.
• Setting no markup for an individual test means the provider markup does not apply.
