How to Manage Patient Status
Follow the steps below to make a change or update a patient's status directly from their chart in SigmaMD.
How to Add a New Status
- Navigate to the Patient Chart: From the main menu or the command center, go to the Patients screen and select the desired patient to open their chart.
- Access Patient Details: Click on the 'View patient details' icon next to the patient's name.
- Locate Clinical Details: In the Clinical Details section, find the Status dropdown. Click to view the available status options:
- Active: The patient is currently enrolled and receiving care.
- Inactive: Use this for patients who are no longer active but not formally discharged or deceased.
- Deceased: Select if the patient is confirmed deceased. You can then add a decease date.
- Archived: Use to hide old or irrelevant records without deleting the patient.
After selecting the appropriate status, click Save to apply the change.
Important to note
Active
is the only status that allows patients to schedule appointments and chat. The patient still has access to their patient app account with all their medical records, but communication with the practice through it will be ceased.- The chart status is independent from the membership status. So patients can be active on the practice without a membership plan and canceling a plan does not automatically changes the clinical status.
