Scribe-Generated Lab and Imaging Orders

Scribe can draft lab orders, imaging orders and tasks from what was said during the visit, so you are reviewing a suggestion rather than starting from an empty form. Nothing is created until you approve it.

Where the suggestions appear

After a Scribe visit, open the Scribe Actions panel alongside the note. Alongside the clinical suggestions it already produced, you will see any of the following it picked up from the conversation:

  • Lab orders
  • Imaging orders
  • Tasks

Each item is a draft. Review, edit, or dismiss it before it is created — nothing is ordered on your behalf.

Reviewing an order suggestion

  1. Open the suggested lab or imaging order in the Scribe Actions panel.
  2. Check the test or study against what you intended. Scribe works from the dictated conversation, so confirm the specific panel or study is the one you want.
  3. Adjust anything that needs it — the diagnostic provider, the tests included, or the clinical detail carried across.
  4. Approve it to create the order, or dismiss it if it is not needed.

Once created, the order behaves exactly like one you built by hand. The full ordering workflow, including provider selection and submission, is covered in How to Create and Submit a Lab Order and How to Create and Submit an Imaging Order.

Good practice

  • Read every suggestion before approving. Scribe drafts from speech and can mishear a test name or pick a broader panel than you meant.
  • Say the order out loud during the visit. Naming the test and the reason for it gives Scribe the detail it needs to draft something useful.
  • Dismiss freely. Dismissing a suggestion does not affect the note or the rest of the Scribe output.
