In certain cases, you may want to attach a patient to a membership without collecting payment—such as when managing affiliate groups or sponsored patients. SigmaMD allows you to configure zero-dollar membership plans for these workflows.
Step 1: Create a Zero-Dollar Membership Plan
- Go to Billing > Membership Plans.
- Create a new membership plan or edit an existing one.
- Add one or more $0.00 seats.
Step 2: Attach the Membership to the Patient
- Follow the steps in this article to manually attach a membership: How to Attach a Membership to a Patient
- On the membership setup screen:
- Set payment method to Cash.
- Enable Autopay.
- Disable Enrollment Fee.
- Disable Enrollment Notifications.
This will allow the patient to appear as an active member in SigmaMD without triggering billing.
Managing Patients from Affiliates
If you're managing affiliate groups that are part of networks such as Hint, Nextera, or PeakMed, you can use zero-dollar memberships to label and track these members while maintaining correct attribution. Simply name your zero-dollar membership according to the affiliate group (e.g., "Alpha Co / PeakMed Network") to ensure easy reporting and filtering.
