Release Notes - March 11, 2026

We're excited to share this week's SigmaMD update. This release introduces the new Patient Web Portal along with several improvements to billing, scheduling, and lab workflows.

Patient Web Portal

This release introduces the SigmaMD Patient Web Portal, allowing patients to access their care from any browser. The Portal launches with secure messaging, and we'll be expanding its capabilities in upcoming updates.

They can log in using the same credentials as the SigmaMD Patient App. If a patient signs up through the web portal, the same login can later be used in the mobile app.

You can share this article with your patients and ask them to access the Portal at patient.sigmamd.com.

Scribe Actions

Scribe now helps you move from documentation to action more quickly. After a Scribe note is generated, SigmaMD automatically detects potential follow-up actions from the conversation, such as:

  • Problems
  • Medications
  • Allergies
  • Vitals
  • Vaccines
  • Procedures
  • Tasks
  • Appointments

These suggestions appear in the Actions tab, where you can review and add them directly to the patient chart or create a task from them. This helps reduce steps and keeps clinical documentation structured.

Automatic Credit Card Surcharge

SigmaMD can now automatically apply a surcharge when a patient pays with a credit card.

The system:

  • Detects when the payment method is a credit card
  • Applies the surcharge automatically at checkout
  • Follows local rules and restrictions, including states where surcharges are not allowed or where a maximum percentage applies

This helps you stay compliant while making sure surcharge handling is accurate and transparent.

Phlebotomy Fee in Lab Orders

You can now configure a phlebotomy fee for lab orders. The fee amount can be defined in Billing Settings and also added to Coverage Policies.

It will be automatically applied when an order is set for in-office draw, but can also be added or removed manually when needed.

Configurable Appointment Time Slot Duration

You can now define custom appointment slot durations. Set this in Practice Settings > Appointment Settings.

This provides more flexibility in how your scheduling availability is structured and allows you to tailor your calendar to your workflows.

Add Caregiver to Regular Patients

You can now convert regular patients into care recipients by adding caregivers. Click on "Add caregiver" in the patient's Contact Details section to select a caregiver and convert the patient.

Important:

  • The patient's contact information will be removed, and they will lose access to their chart on the Patient Portal and App.
  • One or more caregivers can be assigned.

This allows you to manage pediatric, dependent, or assisted care situations more easily.

Delete Fax Internal Notes

You can now delete internal notes in the fax conversation if they were sent by mistake.

A Delete option is now available directly in each note.

New Clinical Form Templates

Several new form templates are now available to help you collect structured clinical information.

New templates include:

  • ASQ
  • SCARED Screen
    • Parent and Child versions
  • MCHAT
  • MCHAT DFA
  • NICHQ Vanderbilt Assessment Scale for ADHD
    • Parent Initial Symptoms
    • Parent Initial Performance
    • Follow-up Symptoms
    • Follow-up Performance
    • Follow-up Adverse Effects

These templates are available in the Forms library and can be added to your patient workflows.

Bug Fixes

This release also includes several fixes and stability improvements, including:

  • The patient mobile app now correctly redirects when a new imaging order is received
  • Added missing columns to Billing CSV export
  • External calendar now syncs properly after cancellations and rebookings
  • Scribe now verifies when no audio is detected
  • Forms now refresh properly when patients return to the mobile app
