Release Notes – May 21, 2025
This week’s update brings powerful tools to help you streamline care communication, fine-tune billing, and expand lab/imaging capabilities.
Chat Types
You can now categorize patient chats using custom-defined chat types. When a patient starts a chat from their app, they’ll see a list of options—such as "Refill Request," "Follow-up," or any type you add.
The selected chat type becomes the chat title and appears in the inbox for quick identification. This helps triage conversations faster and assign them to the right person.
More on creating custom chat types.
Notification Preferences
Take full control of your notification settings:
- Decide how you want to be notified (in-app, mobile, email)
- Route alerts to other users as needed
Each user can customize their own preferences by clicking their name in the top-right corner and selecting Notification Settings.
Admins can manage practice-wide defaults from Practice Settings > Notification Settings.

Team coverage
You can now assign a covering team member to receive notifications on behalf of another user—perfect for when someone is away.
The covering user receives the same alerts but the task remains assigned to the original team member.
Set this up under Practice Settings > Notification Settings > Coverage. Learn more.
Urgent Chats
You can now flag any chat as urgent to call attention to time-sensitive issues. Urgent chats are visually marked in the inbox, helping your team prioritize responses.
From the chat screen, click the three-dot menu to mark or unmark as urgent. Once flagged, the chat appears with a red “Urgent” label and can be filtered using the new inbox filters.

Fax-Based Ordering and Results (Labs & Imaging)
For practices working with labs or imaging centers not integrated electronically, you can now place orders via fax and receive results the same way.
This includes ordering a review workflow on the fax inbox to assign the result to patient. That way, you can see electronic and fax tests together on the patient's chart.
