Understanding the Profile Screen
Your Profile screen holds the details that identify you across SigmaMD — your name, profile picture, date of birth, login credentials, time zone, and signature. Everything on this screen applies to your own user account only. It does not change your practice's information.
Where to Find It
- From the bottom-left menu, click Personal Settings.
- Select the Profile tab.
Personal Information
This card holds the details that identify you in the platform.
- Profile Picture — Click Upload to add a photo, or use the change and delete options on an existing one. Accepted formats are JPG, JPEG, or PNG, with minimum dimensions of 200 x 200 pixels and a maximum file size of 5 MB.
- First Name and Last Name — Your name as it should appear throughout SigmaMD and on the clinical documents you generate.
- Date of Birth — Your own date of birth. The minimum age is 18.
Click Save to apply your changes. The Save button stays disabled until you have edited at least one field.
Correcting Your Name
If your name is misspelled or has changed, you can correct it yourself from this screen — there is no separate request to submit. Keep the following in mind:
- Only you can change your own name. Practice administrators can invite and deactivate team members, but they cannot edit another user's name. The person whose name is wrong needs to sign in and update it here.
- The change applies going forward. Your updated name appears on lab and imaging requisitions, prescriptions, referrals, and clinical documents created from that point on.
- Documents already generated keep the old name. A requisition that has already been sent to a lab is not updated retroactively. If an order is already in flight with the wrong name, contact our support team.
- Connected services are not updated automatically. Your name is also registered with the partners that handle ePrescribing and lab and imaging interfaces. Updating your SigmaMD profile does not change those records — contact our support team and we will request the update on your behalf.
Account Credentials
The Account Credentials card is where you manage your contact details and sign-in information. Each field has its own Change button, and every change starts by confirming your current password. For your mobile number and email, you will then confirm a one-time passcode sent to the new number or address.
- Mobile Number — Used for notifications and for signing in to SigmaMD Clinician. See Changing Your Registered Mobile Number.
- Email — Used for notifications and correspondence. See Changing Your Registered Email.
- Password — See Changing Your Password for the password requirements.
Time Zone
You can set a personal time zone that is separate from your practice's. It does not auto-adjust if you change locations, so update it manually if you relocate. For how personal and practice time zones interact, see Setting Practice and Personal Time Zones.
Signature
Your signature can be used on referrals and on annotations you add to PDF forms. You can either Draw it directly in the canvas or Upload an image — JPG, JPEG, or PNG, minimum 200 x 200 pixels, maximum 5 MB. You can change or delete it at any time. For more detail, see Uploading and Using Your Physical Signature.
What Lives on the Other Tabs
A few things people expect to find on Profile are managed elsewhere in Personal Settings:
- Healthcare Credentials — Your NPI number and state licenses. See Managing Healthcare Credentials.
- Preferences — Clinical note auto-locking, vital measurement units, and follow-up task defaults. See Understanding the Personal Preferences Screen.
- Working Hours — Your schedule, shifts, and the appointment and visit types you accept.
- Notifications and Appointment Notifications — How and when you are alerted.
- Integrations — External calendars and connected applications.
Your practice's legal name, NPI, tax ID, and public profile are separate again — those live in Practice Settings. See Your SigmaMD Practice Profile Settings.
